DB here! I just read an interesting article in the Wall Street Journal. There was a story on an imported cheese store in NYC that was concerned that the price of cheese from Europe was going to be more expensive because of a new tariff placed on the importing of cheese from the European Union. Do you want to know why? The US is/was retaliating against Europe’s refusal to import American Beef. Conventional American Beef is loaded with hormones and the Europeans do not want it. Guess who is eating eat? We are, let me qualify that; the uniformed public is; I do not eat it, I eat organic.

 

Do you get warm or hot in the evening after meals that have meat as a part of the dinner? If you do, and it is not uncommon it could be the chemicals in your steak or roast beef dinner. If you have tender breasts, a heavy menstrual flow, or if you are a male, and you have swelling in your prostate impairing urine flow – I would make the educated decision to go organic. The chemicals in the products you may be eating can cause an abundance of xenohormones. Organic animal tissue is the only way to go. Also, I would avoid FARM RAISED FISH. Yes you read that right. They use chemicals in fish food to color the flesh and anti-biotics to prevent the fish from getting infections. OK, so what do you do? Stop eating conventional meat, I would minimize going out to eat, where they use processed, tainted meat products. Eat at home, buy the right stuff. DB

Sweet Defeat = the pain caused by eating sugars…

DB here!! I had a very interesting couple of days. If you have followed my itinerary with my lovely wife Deb you can see we have been on the gooooooo!!

We had a lot of fun at Channel 8. The program will be on my site very soon. Well, on Friday February 13th night we had an awesome group that was at Barnes and Noble Book Store for my book discussion. A lot of questions! One interesting query was, “Dr. Bob, how can you help fibromyalgia?” Now, you would think that would be a strange question for a book signing and workshop on SEX and ROMANCE. She apparently was having pain, I am sure the misery she was in, definitely prevented her from having an intimate relationship with her spouse.

Can I tell you- a leading cause of fibromyalgia pain would include; sugar stressing the adrenal glands, to much citrus creating an alkaline pH, lack of Vitamin D creating bone tissue pain and even lack of iodine.

 

Iodine is needed for thyroid function; the thyroid and para-thyroid are involved in calcium movement. We had another person comment who has a low thyroid; she wanted to know if swimming could affect her thyroid? Swimming can lower the iodine in ones body because of chemicals in the water – bromine, fluorine and chlorine.

 

Deb and I spoke at our church on Sunday, the audience was very receptive on the message of Sex and Romance, much to our surprise we sold several ADHD books!! We had much discussion on adult ADHD. When one has ADHD as a child, it is does not generally go away as an adult unless there is a change. One such person was shocked to learn that dairy may be a factor in ADHD. I explained that an abundance of dairy sabotages the formation of a fat in the brain called DHA. I would encourage you to go to back to  www.druglessdoctor.com, and watch the video on ADHD. ADHD translates into depression as time goes on. Depression and those taking anti-depressants have challenges with the emotions and physical aspects of sexual intimacy. DIScomfort Food – Another Weekly E-Tip

I have been observing some very interesting social interactions the last couple of days.  On Monday I was at a location where they were giving away donuts.  You would think they were giving away FREE money.  Some of the individuals ate THREE with frosting, sprinkles and cream filled ones.  It was like watching a bunch of kids in a candy store, however, these were seniors!  You should have seen the look on the faces of the ones who came late and did not get their share.  Let me tell you a bit about what donuts will do:

  1. The wheat in donuts will create digestive distress in the colon by obstructing the little villi from absorbing nutrients.
  2. The wheat creates inflammation on the Adrenal Stress Index.
  3. The cream can cause digestive distress.
  4. Cooking donuts in Trans Fat can create long term pain syndromes and heart distress.
  5. The sugar in the donuts can cause left neck and mid back pain.

In the USA Today there was an article that said that comfort food consumption is up including Hershey’s, burgers, fries, pastries and donuts.  Deb and I were talking and we both agree that the size of America is going to continue to grow around the waistline.  I am in the process of finishing my research on Vitamin D.  I have learned a lot including the role the lack of Vitamin D has on weight gain.  You will be excited when I share these nuggets.

10 Foods that improve your appearance and why

Hello! This is Dr. Bob with another Healthy Living Tip for you!

Ten Foods That May Improve Your Appearance

 

  1. Collagen: Collagen is used to make connective tissue for the skin. So does Vitamin C.  An interesting source of collagen would include honey. Honey has an amino acid in it called proline which is used to make collagen. Sweetener of choice – Honey.  I would avoid artificial sweeteners.  Bell peppers are a great source of vitamin C.

 

  1. Essential fatty acids: nourish the skin, help maintain skin integrity and keep skin cells performing optimally. “Essential fatty acids, a component of all cell membranes in the body, regulate the flow of nutrients, waste materials, and water in and out of cells—which keeps you looking young.”  Flax oil and walnuts.

 

  1. Liver Cleansers: Foods that keep our livers cleansed of toxins, heavy metals and fats make our whole body function more efficiently. This makes us happier, which affects how we look. Plus, a healthy liver brightens our eyes and tightens our skin.  Best food for our liver – beets!  Also, green foods like broccoli and spinach take away the craving for sweets.  When you crave and eat sweets you are creating a process for wrinkles called glycation.  A wrinkle causing food would include yogurt.

 

  1. Fresh herbs for flavor: basil, dill and parsley. If you have puffy bags under your eyes in the morning, you are almost certainly consuming much more salt than you need.  Another problem is alcohol: It dehydrates you and can make your skin sag. The worst combination is alcohol and salt, which causes puffy dark circles under your eyes. Don’t go to the bar and have chips and beer. Use fresh herbs instead of salt.  Sparkling water instead of alcohol.

 

  1. Crunchy vegetables: Fresh raw veggies are as good for your grin as they are for your skin! Celery, carrots, string beans and cauliflower contain cellulose which helps scrub stains from your teeth—giving you a whiter, brighter smile. Both the cellulose and the [other] fiber in these foods act as abrasives that clean and remove bacteria from teeth.

 

  1. Sea Vegetables: Polluted cells can’t function at their optimum level. When our cells are functioning optimally, not only do we have more energy—we look and feel great. Sea vegetables are one of our richest sources of minerals and phytochemicals. These veggies help detoxify, rebuild and nourish all the cells in our body. Unhealthy foods, stress and environmental pollutants cause cells to age prematurely, potentially leading to thinning hair and premature wrinkles. Sea vegetables reverse this process!  Crunch them on your salad.

 

  1. Meat and Lentils: As you age, your hair and skin cells become damaged, making you appear older. The protein in meat, chicken, and certain vegetables promotes cell growth and repair, which translates to younger-looking skin, fewer wrinkles, less hair loss and a glossy mane. To take a break from meat try lentils instead; they contain more protein than any other legume.

 

  1. Eggs:  Vitamin A is especially important for skin repair, and decreased levels can lead to dry, flaky skin.  A lack of vitamin A may cause your skin to heal poorly and wrinkle easily.  A good source of vitamin A food includes eggs and some plants—carrots and broccoli, for example—supply beta-carotene, which your body converts to vitamin A as needed.

 

  1. Almond or hemp milk:  Almond milk is a nutritious dairy alternative because of its high levels of magnesium, potassium, manganese, copper, vitamin E, selenium and calcium.  Hemp milk is a delicious, nutty-tasting non-dairy beverage that provides essential balanced nutrition. It’s a fantastic alternative to soymilk and has a natural well-balanced ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids to keep your mind sharp, your immune system strong and your skin glowing.  Both almond and hemp milks are plant-based, and don’t contain lactose. They offer high-quality protein that can give hair a radiant, healthy shine and helps keep skin soft.

 

  1. Salmon and Avocados:  Salmon is more than a delicious meal—it’s an anti-aging feast. Salmon has precious omega-3 essential fatty acids, which enhance blood flow. The pink/orange color of wild salmon is an anti-aging carotenoid that protects cell membranes. Salmon also contains DMAE, which improves facial muscle tone and reduces wrinkles. Add avocado for its antioxidant properties and you’ll be sitting pretty after dinner.  Remember, no ice cream for desert, or you will have wrinkle dreams.

Uncomfortable topic – Hemorrhoids – can be treated naturally!

DB here!! I am going to be talking about Detoxification on Monday night January 19th, 2009, 9pm at my next Tele Workshop. It would be awesome for you to be there. I know you will learn a lot of little nuggets that can make a difference in your over-all health.

An area that is very common and I am asked about often includes hemorrhoids. Do you know what one of the main causes of hemorrhoids is; a congested or plugged up liver. You see, there is a back up of pressure that occurs when you may have been eating ice cream, cookies, snack foods, medications and alcohol. Other common body signals include spider veins, varicose veins and cherry hemangiomas, which are little red bumps on the skin. This is very serious. I have discovered over time that the liver is the key organ for the prevention of cancer and even heart disease. Now, there are many organs associated with toxicity; but, the liver is one of the main keys.

Eat Dr. Bob’s ABC’s every day.  If you suffer with chronic hemorrhoids I would suggest you may want to fill out a Maestro Symptom Survey form, and make a note for my assistant Rachel in the comments regarding your ailment.  We use a product called Collosonia Root® from Standard Process with great success. Slow the Aging Process, Fast! – 3

DB here!! Aren’t you glad you are learning about looking younger? It will take up to three consistent months to see changes. OK, yesterday I mentioned collagen. Collagen is the glue that holds cells together. Your body would do much better if it had the ingredients to create baby face smooth skin. I would suggest you eat, are you ready; one high Omega 3 organic egg everyday, or at least five times a week. Do you know that eggs, onion and garlic are great sources of sulfur? Sulfur is needed to make strong collagen tissue, along with vitamin C. Do you know that honey is a great source of proline, which is an amino acid that is used to make collagen? I am not suggesting you use honey, but I know there are many honey products being marketed right now.  Some are very good.  I also see patients with a lot of sugar issues that are precipitated by honey. That was just an FYI…. I personally take one ounce of a bovine sourced liquid protein product every day. I believe this product stopped the gray from coming out on the top of my head, and it has stopped my hair from falling out. I am serious. If you had your tonsils removed you lost one of your store houses of sulfur.  Sulfur as I mentioned can be consumed easily…..

I just received a few emails about Iodine, I wanted to put the response for you to read.  Iodine is very important, and because of it’s role with calcium may be a part of the whole Vitamin D issue.  I am searching more information to learn about Vitamin D. Read this email response from me to someone,    I wrote, “From what I am seeing in my practice, and knowing that bromine, fluorine and chlorine are at toxic levels, I can confidently say you should think about it (Iodine).  I rarely see patients who have normal thyroid values and have had not assessed one person with a urine iodine level that was within thirty percent of normal. This is just as serious as Vitamin D and I believe because of the calcium connection this can be connected physiologically.”  DB

Slow the Aging Process, Fast! – Part 2

DB here!! OK, you read the earlier nugget and started drinking more water; right? I would not drink distilled water myself. It tends to deplete the body of critically needed minerals. You need minerals to assist the flax oil in making prostaglandin number three which takes away inflammation. I suggest you use Celtic Sea Salt® liberally (replace your conventional table salt). Vitamin C is very important for the creation of collagen. As you know or know now collagen is important for skin health.

I have found a source of vitamin C that will not cause cold sores or fibromyalgia: Are you ready for this? Red, yellow and orange bell peppers. Eat at least one half of one a red, yellow or orange bell pepper each day. Cut one up and put it in a sealed container along with your half of an apple, and four or five baby carrots. Do you want to know a little known nugget? Of course you do!  If you get indigestion with green bell peppers it may be that your gall bladder/liver mechanics are off. If this is the case you should be eating a half of an apple every day, or get some milk thistle or dandelion root from our web site (www.druglessdoctor.com). Those two items help the liver gall bladder flow. Now, this is really important: your skin needs collagen. Slow the Aging Process, Fast!

Everyone I talk to these days wants to look and stay younger looking. Do you know that you can slow the aging process down? There are a lot of mis-conceptions on why your skin starts to sag, wrinkle and look drawn and pasty looking. Beauty begins within. Let me share some time tested secrets to look and feel younger. First and the easiest is to hydrate your body. Your cells including your skin are in a constant state of repair. Dead cells to need be eliminated from the scene. Water assists the body in the transportation of cells to be removed. Water is water, not soda, tea, coffee or alcohol. Add a wedge of lemon to your water, drink the water and eat the lemon. Many patients that come into the office have never heard of or realize that flax oil is critical for health. I strongly encourage one tablespoon of quality high lignan flax oil a day per one hundred pounds of body weight. Flax oil reduces inflammation. Flax oil also is a precursor for building blocks for the thyroid and adrenal gland hormones. Dry skin is best eliminated by adding calcium lactate to your daily supplementation program. We use Calcium Lactate from Standard Process, it is easily assimilated. Flax oil transports calcium to skin, lack of flax oil can create thick looking skin. Carrots are a great source of vitamin A precursors. I would eat four or five every day. I also would eat at least one-fourth of an avocado every day. Look Younger! Do this!

I know that many of you right now are concerned about how you are going to react your aging profile. Let me give you a few tips that I have noticed to help my patients. I would, and I am being serious about this, EAT your apples, beets and carrots. I won’t talk about apples and beets today. I want to discuss carrots. Carrots, are loaded with minerals and vitamins, there are more than 200 nutrients in carrots. I would eat them raw, steamed or sauteed. I eat them every day.
