Energy – Three Steps to Increase Energy Naturally!

EnergyKite

There are scores of examples of energy.  Solar, wind, and coal initially come to mind, with the first two mentioned increasing in awareness and development in an effort to help our planet stay “green.”  Like our external energy resources assist us in our daily lives, our personal energy levels need to come from the best available source for optimal longevity.

Many citizens worldwide choose a breakfast of pastries and a starchy high-carb lunch of macaroni and cheese or the likes.  These choices will result in a mid-afternoon urge for a little or ‘super-sized’ pick-me-up which is how the energy drink business is a $39.2 billion dollar machine worldwide.  Yet, the ingredients of these ’energy’ drinks, like caffeine and taurine can pose dangerous side effects.

So how do we safely increase energy – naturally?  Below are some viable action steps which are in order for us to stop yawning and start climbing Mt. Fuji with extra energy to spare:

  1. Limit wheat consumption.  i.e. Bread, pasta, pizza, crackers, pretzels and cereal. Most people love grains, but the grains we ingest sometimes do not love us. You may have, unknown to you, wheat sensitivity.  Gluten-free diets have become a buzzword within the food industry because of the revelation EnergyRun that many people in our country have this sensitivity.  Living wheat free may be a challenge at first, but it is worth it when you consider some of the effects that wheat has on wheat sensitive individuals.  These indications include:
  • Energy depletion
  • Digestive distress
  • Skin outbreaks

Currently gluten-free items can be more expensive, but there are many new websites targeted to those with sensitivities and have more options including: www.glutenfreeonashoestring.com

2.         Increase zinc and decrease copper consumption.  A colleague of mine, Ann Louise Gittleman wrote a book entitled, “Why am I always tired?” Her hypothesis included too much copper depletes zinc in our bodies, and those with low zinc cannot make enough insulin, leading to a decrease in energy.

Foods with zinc include:

  • Chicken
  • Turkey
  • Pumpkin seeds

Foods that displace copper, like manganese and sulphur:

  • Eggs
  • Green leafy veggies (kale and bok choy)
  • Onions
  • Cruciferous vegetables (broccoli and cauliflower)
  • Blueberries.

Foods with Vitamin C are also helpful to displace copper:

  • Bell peppers
  • Tomatoes
  • Strawberries
  • Kiwi fruit

3.         Take care of your adrenal and thyroid. An overworked and stressed adrenal gland and thyroid gland can deplete our energy levels.  Limit sugar and “yeasty” foods.  Again, foods containing Vitamin C will provide help, and deep sea vegetables like kelp and salmon and good source of Omega 3’s will benefit the thyroid.  Our office also supplies “Drenamin” and “Adrenal Dessicated” from Standard Process, which aid adrenals.  Note: Standard Process lab products are only available to patients or those who have completed a Health Survey.

Torpedoes of Death = Donuts

DB here!! I had a busy day today; I was a guest on a radio program in 850 KOA AM with Rick Barber at 6am EST. We talked from items from soup to nuts. He liked my line “torpedoes of death”, those are donuts. Donuts create havoc on the gall bladder. The gall bladder is critical for optimal fat metabolism. Go to this site and see if you can upload the pod cast.

http://www.koaradio.com/cc-common/podcast/single_podcast.html?podcast=overnight.xml

I was then on WTBQ, where I talked about Celtic Sea Salt. One nugget, maybe you will like to read. Men who have “bowed legs” often need minerals. Lack of minerals can be an issue. Leg cramps are common with lack of minerals. Go to my web site, either today or tomorrow, and register for my videos, and watch the one on Celtic Sea Salt. Download the outline. You will learn a lot. Only five percent of BP is caused by salt. There is a lot to learn. You can go to You Tube and type in Dr. Bob DeMaria discusses Celtic Sea Salt®. I will put the outline here for you to watch. Let me know how you like it. You know what; we have adjusted the price on Celtic Sea Salt. It is very important.

After I did the two radio programs, I spoke at Bendix a major World Wide company that is known by there air brakes. They were shocked to find out about “torpedoes of death”. I had several mature gentlemen come up to me after, and say they were very excited to learn they could lower their cholesterol and get off their drugs – most of them were suffering from the side effects with pain. Do you have high cholesterol; if yes go and read Dr. Bob’s ABC’s on my home page. I spoke for an hour. Great fun will go back next month. Thank you all the Bendix employees who were there today. Do you have a company that would like an excellent program, and then you may want to go to my home page, and link to the speaker form.

I had a workshop at noon. I have the notes and told you above how to see it until it gets posted. I can tell you Celtic Sea Salt® is critical for long term health. Let me know how you like it. DB

Celtic Sea Salt: Dr. Bob DeMaria

  • The history of salt. It has been used as a form of legal trade for thousands of years. Roman soldiers were paid with salt, “solarium argentums” which became the English word Salary.
  • Hippocrates used salt, infections, clearing congestion. It was said that w/o salt there would be no life.
  • The Union army used strategies in the Civil War to stop the South
  • Salt was used as a preservative before refrigeration. People moved to areas of salt, Cincinnati, Detroit and Cleveland. Utah
  • The Difference between Refined Salt and Unrefined Salt. Unrefined salt has over 80 minerals and elements. Refined salt has two Na and Cl
  • Sulfuric acid and chlorine in the form of brine are added to unrefined salt to take the other minerals out, which are classified as impurities. They then add anti-caking agents including sodium ferrocyanide, ammonium citrate and aluminum silicate. Dextrose is used as a stabilizer so that iodide will stay in the salt.
  • Refined salt is “lifeless”. Why you may ask? It can stay on the shelf longer. It is cleaner looking.
  • pH is effected by salt. We tend to live an acidic environment. Refined salt does not promote normal pH. Unrefined salt adds minerals helping normalize you pH. pH is a measure of acid (vinegar) or alkaline (baking soda)
  • The low salt diet does not promote normal blood pressure a low salt diet may help only 5% which is minimal. Chiropractic adjustment helps 17 points.
  • Could be salt sensitive. Kidney issues. Not common.
  • A low salt diet has been shown to cause multiple nutritional deficiencies, including depletion of minerals such as calcium and magnesium as well as potassium and B-vitamins.
  • Low salt diets often result in altered adrenal gland hormones, by increasing them, like adrenaline, which can stimulate the sympathetic nervous system, raising BP and causing a heart attack. The purpose of Beta blockers is to stop these hormones. Could the low salt diet be the real problem? Insulin tends to increase on a low salt diet.
  • Elevated insulin has been associated diabetes, cysts on the ovaries and obesity.
  • A low salt diet can result in the increase of toxins in the body. Bromine.
  • Dr. Lepore ND, has found the systolic pressure will stabilize with Na and the diastolic pressure with K+
  • The amount of unrefined salt is directly related to the amount of water you consume. The more water you consume, the more unrefined salt you should ingest. Use ¼ teaspoon of unrefined salt for every quart of water ingested. Using it for cooking should not interfere with your BP.
  • The human body has 250 grams of salt in it a baby has 14 grams
  • Water and salt are necessary for metabolism, detoxification and transportation of nutrients as well as optimal functioning of the hormonal, nervous and immune systems.
  • Nerve impulses are mediated by sodium ions.
  • Sodium regulates the electrical charges through out the body. Seizure disorders can result with altered sodium levels. Seizures can be caused by diet soda and refined salt. They may go away by eliminating refined salt and add unrefined salt.
  • The brain needs magnesium, calcium and potassium to send messages.
  • Salt and water work together. Many today are dehydrated. Items with caffeine can accelerate water loss. You can have brain fog, which is very common w/o pure water and the proper minerals in unrefined salt.
  • Water generates energy. Two oceans in the body, one in the cells and one outside of the cells. The outside has WBC’s, RBC’s, vitamins and minerals. The inside ocean has all the cell organelles. Your body needs water and salt to carry the outside ocean water to the kidneys to be eliminated by the body.
  • Unrefined salt nourishes both oceans. Na is on the outside and the K is on the inside. Magnesium and calcium help the two oceans communicate with each other. They are not in unrefined salt.
  • When you do not have the right minerals you kidneys will start holding on to salt in the body.
  • Prolonged healthy salt deprivation will result to kidney problems. What will happen minerals will be pulled from inside the cells to balance the outside ocean?
  • You cannot drink enough water because the body needs minerals. As the cells become more dehydrated, waste products build up in the cells and you have acidosis.
  • The consequences of acidosis would include; cancer, auto immune disorders, and arthritis as well as accelerated aging.
  • The Adrenal glands are affected by salt. In a resting state, the adrenal glands are responsible for maintaining adequate energy levels, blood sugar control, blood pressure control, muscle strength and much more via the secretion of other hormones including: Aldosterone, cortisol, DHEA, Estrogen, Pregnenolone, Progesterone and Testosterone.
  • Adrenal gland exhaustion include fatigue, poor immune function, cancer, thyroid disorders, obesity, arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, auto immune disorders and other chronic illness.
  • The Adrenal glands need Mg, it calms you.
  • Diuretics do not get to the cause. Do not stop w/o talking to your Dr.
  • Adrenal exhaustion results because of

1. The lack of unrefined salt in our diet

2. The excess use of refined salt in our diet.

Great Party Recipes!

DB here! What did you have at your Super Bowl Party? Why don’t you shake it up a bit, and try some real food!!

First Recipe: Now, if you have a grille, try some shish-ka-bobs, made with chicken breast, lamb or chicken sausage. Applegate™ has several products that are tasty and healthy. What I would do is this, here is your list of ingredients, green olives with pimentos, they will add some natural salt, cut up red, yellow or orange bell peppers, and they will add some color. Oh, by the way, I use bamboo skewers, the long ones. Large mushrooms, zucchini and the secret weapon, fresh pineapple. But Dr. Bob, you always say pears, plums and apples. Well, since you have been reading the BLOG, I wanted to tell you that when you put a chunk of REAL, not canned pineapple that is fresh, and the heat will dissipate some of the sweetness. It adds real flavor to the kabob. Also, get a large onion, this can be tricky, cut the onion in half and un-peal it layer by layer, so it looks like the skin of an orange. The onion will over lap the veggies. If you use Chicken try Frontier Poultry seasoning it is tasty. Of course you want to use Celtic Sea Salt®. What I also do is get some Braggs Ginger salad dressing. I would par cook the Kabobs for about twenty or thirty minutes at 320 to 350 F. This will get them ready for the grille. I would let them cook up on the grille; move them around so they do not get burned. Mushrooms can get toasty. I would then brush on the Braggs, do not put it on at the beginning. The flavor will permeate the meat and veggies….are you drooling?

Second Recipe: We have the kabobs, why don’t you make some Dr. Bob coleslaw. It is easy, get a red cabbage, (my favorite), cut it up with a sharp knife or food processor. Get some Safflower Mayo from Hain®, grate carrots, cut up a Gala apple, you could add some walnuts, or raisins for a switch. Mix it all together, add Celtic Sea Salt.

Third Recipe: Let’s try some Rice based macaroni salad. Go to your favorite health food store or conventional store healthy department. Get some Penne Rice pasta, follow the directions, when you are done cooking them, and leave them Aldante like my wife Debbie enjoys, put a table spoon or two of Safflower Mayo on the warm noodles. Rice pasta tends to get hard if you do not throw some fat on them. You can also use butter. Cut up a cucumber, onions, calamata olives, fresh dill or parsley, a hard boiled egg or two. You could put some cut up grilled chicken, for a little protein if you want. You could even add walnuts if you want. The olives add a bit of salt, the fresh herbs are awesome. Do you really want to stretch it a bit? Get some Goat Feta cheese, cube it, add it when you are done mixing everything. Don’t forget the Celtic Sea Salt®. You could add red, yellow or orange bell peppers for color. Radishes are great. The real secret is the FRESH herbs.

Fourth Recipe: What about Desert? Well, we have Nanas Cookies in our office; wheat, sugar and dairy free. You may be able to find them at your local market. Pamela’s has rice flour cookies with good oil and no sugar. If you are daring, go to the Healthy Living Link, scroll to recipes, click on deserts and use your imagination. No Plan is a plan to fail. Get out of the rut.

I would like to hear from anyone, tell me how it went. Go to www.druglessdoctor.com, and watch the other videos. You can make Brussel Sprouts, squash and even chicken soup. Try stir frying. Use lamb, with some brown rice. Fry you items with Rice oil, or coconut oil.

PS: Could you do me a HUGE FAVOR and link here and watch this short video as I explain Natural Chiropractic Healthcare. I really appreciate it……Thank you in advance……Pass this on to a friend. DB

Slow the Aging Process, Fast! – Part 2

DB here!! OK, you read the earlier nugget and started drinking more water; right? I would not drink distilled water myself. It tends to deplete the body of critically needed minerals. You need minerals to assist the flax oil in making prostaglandin number three which takes away inflammation. I suggest you use Celtic Sea Salt® liberally (replace your conventional table salt). Vitamin C is very important for the creation of collagen. As you know or know now collagen is important for skin health.

I have found a source of vitamin C that will not cause cold sores or fibromyalgia: Are you ready for this? Red, yellow and orange bell peppers. Eat at least one half of one a red, yellow or orange bell pepper each day. Cut one up and put it in a sealed container along with your half of an apple, and four or five baby carrots. Do you want to know a little known nugget? Of course you do!  If you get indigestion with green bell peppers it may be that your gall bladder/liver mechanics are off. If this is the case you should be eating a half of an apple every day, or get some milk thistle or dandelion root from our web site (www.druglessdoctor.com). Those two items help the liver gall bladder flow. Now, this is really important: your skin needs collagen. Do you want to know a great source of collagen food precursor that you can get in the grocery store? Read the nugget tomorrow… :)

Have Herpes? You need to read this.

AOL recently listed the ten top issues that people are concerned about, I am sure they are the topics that are searched thru an engine. One of the top ten includes Herpes. When I was in school and completing my studies in Human Biology, there was a point made to let students know that there is Herpes above and below the belt. I have had patients who have them both. Herpes is caused by a virus. The virus can show it’s nasty characteristics when you have stress and your calcium level drops. I have seen people have them when they are in the sun to much, or when they are under stress. Stress burns up calcium. Calcium glues cell membranes together. Drinking more milk is not necessarily the answer. I often will suggest a TSH, T3 and T4 blood test to check thyroid function. The thyroid has so much to do with calcium movement, along with the para thyroid. A hair analysis is also helpful. If you have genital herpes you also need the additional calcium. I would suggest four to six calcium a day, on an empty stomach. Also take either L-Lysine, one or two daily, and/or a product we use called Cataplex F. We can make the Cataplex F available to you if you fill out a Maestro symptom survey form. Standard Process allows us only to make products available to clients we have completed an assessment on. Go to the site to check it out, while you’re there, comment on my blog and you may win the Maestro FREE from our Blog Comment of the Week Contest. DB

Look Younger! Do this!

I know that many of you right now are concerned about how you are going to react your aging profile. Let me give you a few tips that I have noticed to help my patients. I would, and I am being serious about this, EAT your apples, beets and carrots. I won’t talk about apples and beets today. I want to discuss carrots. Carrots, are loaded with minerals and vitamins, there are more than 200 nutrients in carrots. I would eat them raw, steamed or sauteed. I eat them every day. Carrots are loaded with Vitamin A, it is critical for skin health. OK, here is another nugget is water. Water will hydrate the skin. Skin takes a beating in the winter time up here in the North. When the air is dry like some of you have in Arizona, drink more water. I would use Celtic Sea Salt liberally, is it a great source of minerals. You want to eliminate inflammation. Wait till you read this — protein and sugar create wrinkles on your skin. There is a surgeon in Cleveland will not do facials on women who eat yogurt. I would not eat ice cream if you want your face to be smooth. You could put an avocado mask on your face. Here is a secret weapon for you, smash one fourth of an avocado and break open an Alpha Lipoic Acid capsule and mix them together. Apply the mixture to your face for a half hour or so, your skin will love it. Eggs, onion and garlic are a great source of sulfur, which is important for skin health. Iodine is a secret weapon. Stay tuned. By the way I have a video on skin health at www.druglessdoctor.com Also, I have a skin health herb at my product link. http://www.druglessdoctor.com/ProductsServices/NaturalHerbalSupplements/tabid/239/Default.aspxDB
